The Evening Light Messenger first started out in April of 1995.  The ELM was then called the Marion Youth Newsletter.  Each edition then was hand typed and each page printed one by one on a regular coping machine. Alot of the pages that contained images or pictures were cut and pasted manually.  The size of the the Marion Youth Newsletter then was an 8 X 10 brochure folded in half and the cover page was drawn or was a computer generated picture.  Whow, how times have changed.  Pages that were included then were messages that were brought during the month on Wednesday nights, Sunday mornings, and Sunday evenings.  Also included periodically was a deidcation page.  This page was dedicated and selected from someone in the local congregation. 

In October of 1995 several new pages were added to the Marion Youth Newsletter to help bring more of a variety of reading to the publication.  These pages were the Introduction Page, Picture page, and Special events such as youth outings, new spiritual births, and new baby births.  It was then decided that same issue to add  two more page's titled Inspirational Song and Inspirational Poem Page.  We also started including for that particular month a Calendar Page that contained the local congregation's birthday's and anniversaries.  Also included was a lesson chosen for the month from the Young People's Sunday Sunday Class and Young Married Couple's Sunday School Class.

In December of 1995 we added the Something Extra Page, Bible Crossword Puzzle Page, and Youth Thoughts (this page was written from notes taken when one of the young people would give a thought on Sunday afternoon before the main service.)

Riddle

God created Adam out of dust

Thought it best to make me first

So I was created before man to answer God's most holy plan

A living being I became and Adam gave to me my name

I from his presence then withdrew and more of Adam never knew

I did my makers law obey, nor ever went from it astray

Tousands of miles I go in fear but seldom on Earth do I appear

For purpose wise which God did see, He put a living soul in me

 A soul from me God did claim and took from me the soul again

So when from me the soul had fled I was the same as first created.

                      Without hands or feet or soul -  I travel from pole to pole

I labor hard by day and night - to fallen man I give great light.

Thousands of people both young and old wil by my death great light behold.

No right or wrong can I conceive - the scriptures I cannot believe.

Although my name therein is found they are to me an empty sound.

Feat of death doth trouble me - real happiness I shall never see.

To Heaven never go - or to Hell below.
